A specialized litigation practice is seeking an accomplished Civil Litigation Associate to join its growing team in Northern Virginia. This opportunity is suited for an attorney with 3 to 5 years of substantive civil litigation experience who is prepared to take meaningful ownership of matters, work directly with clients, and build significant courtroom and trial experience.
The successful candidate will manage cases through the full litigation lifecycle while working alongside experienced litigators in a collaborative, high-responsibility environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of civil litigation matters from initial consultation through resolution.
- Develop case strategy and advise clients throughout the litigation process.
- Draft and argue pleadings, motions, briefs, and other substantive filings.
- Take and defend depositions and manage discovery strategy.
- Represent clients in hearings, mediations, settlement negotiations, and other proceedings.
- Prepare matters for trial, arbitration, and evidentiary hearings, with opportunities for first and second chair trial experience.
- Collaborate with experts, consultants, and senior attorneys on complex matters.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- J.D. from an accredited law school with an active Virginia bar license; Maryland and/or Washington, D.C. admission is advantageous.
- 3 to 5 years of substantive civil litigation and trial-related experience.
- Demonstrated experience independently managing cases, including depositions, hearings, and motion practice.
- Strong legal research, writing, oral advocacy, and client advisory capabilities.
- Experience in construction, commercial, real estate, contract, or related litigation is preferred but not required.
- Established presence in the Northern Virginia/Washington, D.C. market and ability to work on-site in Arlington.

- Compensation: $120,000 to $175,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
